HANDMADE JEWELLERY UK - COMPOSITION
CURATED ELEMENTS
Beads:
All of our jewellery has been created using delicate semi precious faceted beads, freshwater pearls and synthetic zircons.
All are sourced from India or China.
14K Gold Filled:
Although gold filled isn’t pure gold, it still consists of real gold. Pure gold (24K gold) is considered too soft to work with,
therefore almost all gold jewellery contains some kind of base metal to make it stronger.
The value of gold jewellery is then determined by how much gold it contains, with anything above 9K still considered to be real gold.
A thick layer of real gold (usually 14k or 12k) is mechanically bonded to a base metal using heat and pressure.
Gold filled must contain at least 5% of real gold making it one of the best quality solid gold alternatives.
It will take much longer than gold plated jewellery to tarnish, due to containing at least 5% of real gold,
the layer of gold is much thicker than gold plated jewellery. With a lot of care it can last years, even decades.
925 Sterling Silver:
925 means the piece is 92.5% pure silver. The other 7.5% is usually copper, sometimes zinc or other metals
added to make the silver stronger and more durable.
Fastenings:
Our collections offer various types of fastenings made and sourced from the U.S.A.
Our signature magnetic fastening is either 925 sterling silver or 14k rolled gold. They are strong but must be used with care.
Like any other good quality jewellery, they must be removed when bathing, showering or swimming in any chlorinated or salt water.
Apply perfumes/colognes and let dry before adorning your beaded jewellery.
Magnets must NOT be worn if you wear a pacemaker. They are not suitable for children under the age of 13.
Stringing yarns:
Our jewellery is hand strung using amazing quality, High Performance Nylon yarn made in Malta.
Pendants:
Pendants have been hand assembled in the UK using two types of bail, clip on and slide on.
They are both manufactured in China.
The slide on bail is exclusively designed and made for Angela Locke Jewellery (copyright).
